Selling My Paintings Online

It took me quite some time, but I finally achieved the goals that I had set out for myself decades ago.  I have been a painter for a long time, and I have been able to get my paintings on display at a number of local art shows.  Unfortunately, the art market here locally is not very big, and it is especially difficult for someone like me, who is completely unknown.  I had sold a couple of paintings prior to expanding my market worldwide by using the internet, but I had never gotten enough for a painting in order for me to make ends meet.  I was always a starving artist working a dead end job and painting in his free time.

Instagram was the website that helped me to change all of that.  It was not only Instagram itself, but my ability to get real Instagram followers from all over the world who were interested in buying my paintings.  At first, I really just wanted to let people all across the world see some of the art that I had done, and I never expected that people would be asking me if they could buy the originals.  I had become discouraged believing that most people simply did not have the same love for art or paintings as I did, and I figured that it was never going to be something that I could do professionally.

That was when one of my real Instagram followers asked me in a comment if he could buy one of the paintings that I posted on my account.  I was shocked, and I did not know how much I should charge for it, but he offered me $300.  At that time, that much money was way more than I had ever made from any of my pieces, so I gladly took it.  I celebrated that night, and the next day I noticed that there were other people asking about different pieces of art.  It was at that point that I decided to set up a website and allow people to order my paintings over the internet.

I now make way more money off of each of my paintings than I ever did by trying to sell them locally.  The encouraging thing is the fact that there really is a worldwide market for art, and that is something that makes me very happy.  What also makes me happy is the fact that I am now an artist as a profession, and art critics all around the world know who I am.  I have even been asked to go to a number of art events all around the world.

I never dreamed that painting would ever be anything more than a hobby, but I am proud to say that I am a professional artist.  It just goes to show that you ought to always pursue your passion and never give up on it no matter how bleak things might look.  I’m living proof that success is possible.
